Kena Lynn Blount

MISS KENA LYNN BLOUNT, 45 of MONROE, NC passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Monroe Rehabilitation Center in Monroe, NC.  Funeral Services will be held 3pm Saturday, August 15, 2015 at God's Word Only Ministry, 4412 Highway 74 East, Wingate, NC 28174. Reverend Louis Lotharp, Pastor, Eulogist.  Visitation will be held 2:30pm to 3pm prior to the service at the Church. Interment will follow in the Suncrest Cemetery in Monroe, NC.  Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe, NC is in charge.

Kena Lynn was born on Tuesday, November 4, 1969,  to Kahyriyyah Luqman (aka Gertha Ann Alsbrooks) and James Blount, Jr. She made her journey to heaven on Saturday, August 8, 2015, in the Monroe Rehabilitation Center, Monroe, NC.

Kena was born with a severe case of cerebral palsy that left her mentally and physically challenged due to a German measles epidemic in Washington' DC.  She lived with her mother and stepfather until the age of 16. She then moved to RHA/Howells Center in Charlotte, NC, where she resided for 29 years.

Kena was employed by God for 45 years from birth to sunset.  Her mission in life was to spread love, peace and joy, to all she came in contact with., and she did this relentlessly.  One sister, Monica Blount, preceded her in death.

Kena is survived by her mother, Kahyriyyah Luqman (Gertha  Ann Alsbrooks) of Monroe, NC; her father, James Blount, Jr.(Faye) of Washington, DC; her stepfather, Talib Luqman of Monroe, NC; three sisters, Zakiyyah Luqman of Marietta, Ga., Ashley Blount and Aneesah Blount, of Washington, DC; one brother,  Maurice White, Sr., (Pamela) of RIdgeville, SC; one niece, Tyria White and two nephews, Maurice White, Jr., and Cedric White, all of Ridgeville, SC; godfather, Charles Kilgo of Monroe, NC; godmother, Agnes Randolph (Pete) of Laurel Hill, MD; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and close friends.
