She attended West Montgomery High School in Mt. Gilead, NC.  She continued her education at Montgomery Community College where she earned a Certified Nursing Certificate.  For years, she worked as a CNA caring for residents at Autumn Care in Biscoe, NC, until her health began to decline.

She was a dedicated and faithful member of Thomasville Missionary Baptist Church.  Some of her accomplishments include writing and directing plays, writing poetry, acting and teaching Sunday School.  She was an active member of the Church Choir and Hospitality Committee.  Many of her Christmas and Easter plays were well known in the community bringing laughter and joy to everyone who attended.  If there was a play to be written, Laketia Haywood would be the one the community would reach out to support a play.

Preceding Laketia in death were her mother, Lena Mae Haywood; paternal grandparents, Ollie and Naomi Ingram; maternal grandparents; Robert  B. (RB) Sr., and Otelia Shipp Haywood.

She leaves to cherish loving and fond memories to her two sons, Trevor Starnes (Virginia Beach, VA) and Trent Starnes (Mt. Gilead, NC); father, Larry D. Ingram (Alabama); a brother, Christopher Haywood (Mt. Gilead, NC); two sisters; Angela Haywood (Virginia Beach, VA) and Tiffany Middleton ( Elmont, NY). Laketia has 7 aunts, 4 uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Laketia was a sweet woman whose smile would light up a room whenever she entered.  She loved the church and she loved her children especially her grandson.  She would always give you her thoughts and opinions on any subject matter and it always came from the heart.  We will all truly miss her dearly knowing that she is watching us from above.
