MR. LESTER DAVID CHRISTIAN, 71 of MT. GILEAD, NC (Wadeville Community) passed away Friday, November 19, 2021 at Atrium Health / Stanly in Albemarle, NC.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, November 28, 2021 at the West Middle School Gymnasium, 129 Highway 109 South, MT. Gilead, NC. Interment will follow in the Roper Grove A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery in MT. Gilead, NC.
(Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic everyone attending the Service and Public Viewing are required to wear a face mask or facial covering. Also please use the Hand Sanitizing Station when entering and exiting the Funeral Home.)
It is also requested by the Family to wear a mask and facial covering to the funeral services.
A public viewing will be held 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of MT. Gilead, NC
Mr. Lester David Christian "Big Dad" , was born on July 12, 1950, in Montgomery County, North Carolina, to the late Dorothy Lee Estelle Christian and Robert Cook, of the Wadeville Community of Mt. Gilead, NC.
He received his education in the Peabody High School in Troy, NC. He was later employed with McRae Industries for 40 years until his retirement.
At an early age, Lester confessed Christ and joined Roper Grove AME Zion Church, where he served in these capacities; Usher, Men's Booster Club, Senior Choir, Kitchen Committee, Steward, Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School , and Van Driver. He served faithfully until his health declined. He never missed a Sunday and he always requested prayer for the whole wide world.
Lester enjoyed attending all types of sporting events, fishing, cooking and attending singing programs. He was a #1 fan of the West Montgomery Warriors and the NC Tar Heels.. He was also Wadeville's #1 Taxi.
He was preceded by death by his parents, Dorothy Christian and Robert Cook; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Davis and most recently, Min. Rowena Crump Barber and nephews, Tobias Crump and George Crump, Jr.
Those left to cherish his memories, is his loving, faithful and devoted wife of 37 years, Nealie Mae Crump Christian of the home. He was her " Coca Cola" because he was "The Real Thing", and his loving daughter, LaShanda Christian (Mack Gaddy) of Troy, NC, his only grandson, Kingston Isaac Gaddy-Christian of Troy, NC; two aunts, Carolyn Cooke and Elizabeth Cook, both of Wadeville, NC, two sisters-in-law, Georgia Mae Crump of Mt. Gilead, NC and Victoria Crump of Norwood, NC; two brothers-in-law, George Crump (Mary) of Mt. Gilead, NC and Maholly Crump (Genise) of Norman, NC; his adopted family, the James and Aaron Greene Families; special friends,(his ballgame buddies) Richard Leak, Emanuel Christian, Sam Watkins, Jack Cagle, Elise Thomas, Montie Cloud. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, whom he loved dearly.
