Lillie Ruth (Litaker) Young

MRS. LILLIE RUTH LITAKER YOUNG, 94 of Troy, NC, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017, in the Firsthealth /  Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, NC.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, August 6, 2017 at the Troy Chapel AME Zion Church, 130 Barnhill St., Troy, NC 27371,  with visitation 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm prior to the service at the church.

Interment will follow in the Freeman Hill Cemetery in Troy, NC.

A public viewing will be held 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm Saturday, August 5,  2017 at Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Mount Gilead, NC.

Lillie Ruth was born on Friday, March 9, 1923, in Cabarrus County, NC, to the late John and Katie Gaines Litaker.

Miss Ruth attended the PublIC Schools of Montgomery County, and attended craft classes at Montgomery Community College, Troy, NC.  She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars #30 in the Pekin Community.

Ruth accepted Christ  at an early age and was a devoted member of Troy Chapel AME Zion Church, where she was Deaconess and other positions until her health began to decline.

On November 28, 1940, she became united in marriage to Garfield Young until his demise in 1998.  She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Young, Lena Arnold and a brother,  Curtis Litaker.

Those who are left to cherish her memories are a devoted daughter, Callie Elaine Young of the home; a sister, Virginia Green of Mt. Gilead, NC; two sisters in law, Rebecca Little and Sarah Clark, both of Troy, NC; brother in law, Robert Young of Troy, NC; God children, Elizabeth Harris of Troy, NC, Loretta Carpenter (Sarwarrii)of Spring Lake, NC, Leonard Richardson (Talonda)  of Wood bridge, VA, Tony Richardson(Haley) of Ellerbe, NC, Jackie and Ruthie Morris of Troy, NC,  Takia Harris of Jacksonville, FL and Shatara and Brandon; several nieces, nephews , cousins, and a loving Community of friends, along with special caregivers, Lillie Smith and Carol B Whitaker, both of Troy, NC.
