Lizzie Lee (Ledbetter) Smith

MRS. LIZZIE  LEE LEDBETTER SMITH, 75 of PINEHURST, NC, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00pm Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Green Grove Holiness Church, 1297 Mabe Rd., Star, NC 27356.  Interment will follow in the  Church Cemetery in Star, NC.  A visitation will be held 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm in the Church prior to the service.

Lizzie was born on Monday, September 2, 1940, to the late Beatrice Little and Thomas C. Ledbetter in Montgomery County, North Carolina. She was a member of Green Grove Holiness Church, Star, NC and a retired employee of  Fruit of the Loom of Star, NC.  She was preceded in death by her husband Alton Smith and a brother, Willie Pankey.

She leaves to cherish loving memories to her daughter, Lizzie Jeanette Harris of Asheboro, NC and a son, David Lee Smith of Baltimore, MD; three grandchildren, Tosha Young of Troy, NC, John Smith of Aberdeen, NC and Tyetta Singletary( Rodney) of Raeford, NC; 4 sisters, Nellie Steele, Mary French, Judy Hood and Georgia Burns; 3 brothers, James Lindsey, Bobby Lindsey and Larry Burns; 11 great-grandchildren; Tionna, Najai, AJ, Attai Young, Elijah, Kyla, Treyevon, Jonathan, Christopher Smith, Jeshonanah and Mareshah Singletary; 7 great-great-grandchildren; caregivers, John and Gail Gray of Pinehurst, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
