Mack Christian

MR. MACK CHRISTIAN, 76 of IRVINGTON, NJ formerly of MT. Gilead, NC (Wadeville Community) passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at East Orange General Hospital in East Orange, NJ.

Mr. Christian was born September 18, 1942 in Montgomery County, NC a son of the late Henry Lee and Viola Green Christian.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at the Roper Grove AME Zion Church, 196 Roper Grove Church Rd., MT.Gilead, NC.  Interment will follow in the Bruton Cemetery in MT. Gilead, NC. Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of MT. Gilead, NC is in charge.

Mack Christian was born on September 18, 1942, in Montgomery County, NC,a beloved son of the late Henry and Viola Christian.

He received his education at Peabody School in Troy, NC.  For many years, Mack was employed at the Newark Board od Education, where he retired. He worked at Chancellor Elementary School on Chancellor Avenue, NJ.  Mack lovd sports, especially bowling and baseball.  He spent all his free time watching and playing these sports when he could.  It brought joy to his life.  He was a member of Roper Grove A.M.E. Zion Church.

He is survived by his children, Barry Christian, Valerie Christian-Jordan, Lisa Christian and Steven Christian.  13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Peggy Christian of East Orange, NJ, Hazel Deberry of Orange, NJ, Grace Robinson of Mt. Gilead, NC and Margaret Christian of Newark, NJ; two brothers, James and Alfonzo Christian, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
