Mary Helen (Wingo) Bivens

April 23, 1925 — October 6, 2012

Mary Helen Wingo Bivens, 87 of Monroe, NC died Saturday, October 6, 2012 at her home. Funeral Services will be held 1pm Friday, October 12, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church, 302 E. Windsor St.,  Monroe, NC, Bishop, Andre Hester, Eulogist, burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Monroe, NC.

Born April 23, 1925 in Spartanburg County, SC a daughter of the late John and Maggie Winchester Wingo and was married to the late Ernest Bivens, Sr. and to this union six children were born two of whom preceeded her in death one daughter; Earnestine Robinson and one son; Willie Herman Bivens, Sr. also preceeding her in death were two brothers; Herman Huey and John Walter Wingo; two sisters; Madie Wingo and Myrtle Pate; three grandchildren; Willette Bivens, Willie H. Bivens, Jr. and Mark Bivens.

She was a retired Chef at Rolling Hills Country Club where she served for over 40 years, a devoted housekeeper for Clayton and the late Evelyn Daniels, Bob and Linda Williams, she was loved so dearly by these families.  Ms. Helen was a member of West Monroe Deliverance Center Church of God of Monroe, NC where she was Mother of the Church and served as a Missionary for over 17 years, she was also a member of the Ladies Auxillary, American Legion Post # 212 of Monroe, NC.

She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories two sons; Edward Bivens and wife Darlene and Ernest Bivens, Jr. and wife Marilyn all of Monroe, NC;  two daughters; Mary Helena Bivens and  Louise Bivens both of Monroe, NC; one daughter in law; Rosetta C. Bivens of Charlotte, NC and one son in law; Michael Robinson of Washington, DC; 26 Grandchildren, 45 Great-grandchildren 10 Step-children and host of Step-grandchildren, neices, nephews and dear friends.

Public viewing will be held Thursday, October 11, 2012, 11am to 7pm at Harris Fuenral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe, NC .
