MS. MINNIE LEE PEMBERTON, 85 of MOUNT GILEAD, NC, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015, at her residence. Funeral Services will be held 3pm Monday, June 29, 2015, at Mount Airy AME Zion Church, 322 Rosenwald School Rd., Mount Gilead, NC 27306. Visitation will be held 2:30 pm to 2:55 pm at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. A public viewing will be held 1pm to 7pm Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Mount Gilead, NC.
Minnie Lee, was born on June 3, 1930 in Richmond County, North Carolina, to the late Paul and Fannie Little Pemberton. She was the seventh of eight children.
Minnie graduated from Mineral Springs High School in Ellerbe, NC, Class of 1948. She lived in High Point, NC and was employed by Fly Back Company, in High Point. She moved back to Mt. Gilead and became employed at McRae Shoe Factory where she retired.
Minnie was a life long member of Mt. Airy AME Zion Church, where she served faithfully in the following capacities; member of the Senior Choir, Usher Board, was a Deaconess, and current President of the Missionary Board, and a member of the Oak Ridge Chapter #547 Order of the Eastern Stars of Mt. Gilead, NC.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul & Fannie Pemberton, two sisters, Annie Virginia Legrand and Rose Chero Little; five brothers; Matthew, Grandy, Paul, Phillip, and Richard Pemberton.
She leaves her legacy to her devoted children; two daughters, Annie Mae Pemberton of the home and Cynthia L. Pemberton of Thomasville, NC; four sons, Danny (DK) Pemberton of the home, Chris (Elaine) of Jacksonville, Fla., Walter (Janice) Pemberton of Spring Lake, NC, and Ernest (Daphne) Pemberton of Asheboro, NC; ten loving grandchildren, including 4 special, Chief Petty Officer Terry Pemberton, Afrika, Marcus and Corey Pemberton; 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, Kaylini Drake Sylvani; special nieces, whom she loved like daughters, Mary Dean Saunders and Bernice Little Capel; last but not least, first cousin, sister and friend, Lillie Rebecca Kirby, andd a host of other nieces and nephews, cousins and neighbors, " Well done, thy good and faithful servant !"
