Nettie Lee (Greene) Greene

Mrs. Nettie Lee Greene, 78,  of Mount Gilead, NC (Wadeville Community), died Friday, June 7, 2013 at First Health / Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC. Funeral servce will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Roper Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, 196 Roper Grove Church Road, Mt. Gilead, NC, of which she was a member, with Rev. George Greene, son, eulogist.  Burial willl be in the Snow Hill  Church Cemetery, Mt. Gilead, NC.

Mrs. Greene was a Montgomery County native born July 2, 1934, to the late Aaron Greene and Martha Harris, and step-daughter of Mrs. Allene Greene.

Nettie was very active at Roper Grove where she was a Deaconess, Past Vice President of the Missionaries, President of the Usher Board, Class Leader, Leader of Leaders, Adult Choir Member, General Claims Secretary, Rainbow Tea Captain.

Mrs. Greene was united in marriage to the late Mr. James "Tamp" Greene, August 4, 1961, and to this union 6 children were born.

She was employed by McRae Industries for 25 years prior to her retirement.  She was also employed with City Laundry and Bates Nightwear of Troy, NC.  Her education was from the Wadeville Community and Peabody High School.

Those left to cherish and to honor her memory are her four sons; James Greene (Crystal) of Salisbury, NC; Rev. George M. Greene (Kerri) of Raleigh, NC; Christopher Greene of Mt. Gilead, NC and Chauncey Greene (Stacey) of Greensboro, NC; two daughters; Rev. Martha Greene of Mt. Gilead, NC and Lakesha Parker (Derelle) of Raleigh, NC; 18 grandchildren; 7 sisters; Ruth Greene of Stanfield, NC; Eunice and Mary Greene, Cynthia Foust (Jack), Genise, Josephine and Aletha Greene, all of Mt. Gilead, NC; brothers; George (Bea) and Leroy (Minnie Lee) Greene, all of Irvington, NJ; Franklin "Pete" Watkins of Troy, NC and Alvin Greene (Sandra) of Four Oaks, NC; devoted friend, Roberta McDonald of Mt. Gilead, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.

Public viewing 12:00-8 p.m. Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Mt. Gilead, NC.  Family visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the funeral.  Harris Funeral Home is graciously serving the Greene Family.
