MRS. OLEATHA FLEMMING FREEMAN MARSH, 79 of WAXHAW, NC passed away Monday, July 5, 2021 at her home. A Memorial Service in her honor will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, July 11, 2021 at the Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 700 Miller St., Waxhaw, NC.
Born Thursday, February 26, 1942 to the late mother Helen Laura Freeman and father Clyde Junior Massey.
Known to family and friends as "Flem", she was raised in Waxhaw, NC by her grandmother Tressy Freeman. Her Church home and family has been with Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church since she was a little girl. Over her decades with Mount Nebo she served faithfully as an Usher, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Youth Choir Director, Young Adult Missionary Leader, Treasurer, Cook, Deaconess, Mother of the Church and a host of other roles as needed for her church family. She loved to fellowship with her family and friends and could often be seen cooking for large gatherings at church and home. Family was her top priority after God and family was not exclusive to blood relatives.
"Flem" met the love of her life and lifetime companion Henry Delbert Marsh in 1961 and to this union was born a son James Darrick Marsh and a daughter Debra Ann Marsh. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandmother and her son.
She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories to her loving husband Henry Delbert Marsh of the home, her loving daughter that cared for her through the end of her days Debra Marsh of Waxhaw, NC, granddaughter; Kamala Lee (Lionel) of Decatur, GA, adopted son; Donald Eddie, adopted daughter; Georgette Gaskin, two sisters Shirley Green and Carol Brown both of Orlando, FL, six brothers; Elder Lawrence Roberts (Jerlean), Elder Ralph Roberts (Marolene), Lorenzo Roberts (Guille), David Roberts, and Thomas Roberts all of Lake Wales, FL and Archie Lee Roberts of Fredericksburg, VA, four grandchildren; Chad Lee (Amiricle), Jason Marsh, and Dianna Marsh all of Monroe, NC and LaCardie Sturgis (Kayla) of Catawba, SC, 10 great-grandchilren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other realatives and friends.
