MR. PARNELL RORIE, 65 of MONROE, NC passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at the Jesse Helms Nursing Center in Monroe, NC. Funeral Services will be held 3:30pm Saturday February 21, 2015 at Monroe Deliverance Center 3210 Secrest Short Cut Rd., Monroe, NC 28110 Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Monroe, NC.  A Public viewing will be held 1pm to 7pm Friday, February 20, 2015 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe, NC.

Mr. Parnell Rorie, a son of the late Wade and Ethel Taylor Rorie, was born on October 14, 1949, in Union County, Monroe, North Carolina.  He departed this earthly life on Monday, February 16, 2015 in the Jesse Helms Nursing Center, Monroe, NC.

He was a member of Monroe Deliverance Center, and a 40 plus year employee of Longs Sporting Goods of Monroe, where he later retired.  He was loved by all and will be truly missed.

He was preceded in death by his long time partner, Mattie Louise Barrett, a sister, Gracie Blakeney, and a son, Jimmy Lee Barrett.

He leaves to cherish loving and fond memories to his children; Stephen Calvin Barrett of Wingate, NC, Purnell Barrett, Jr. and Tina Louise Barrett of the home; John Robert Thomas (Beatrice) of Monroe, NC, James Earl Hamilton of Raleigh, NC, James Lewis Hamilton of Lillington, NC, James Barrett III of Bayboro, NC, and Jimmie Ruth Barrett (daughter) of Monroe, NC; three brothers; Wade Rorie (Betty) of Monroe, NC James Oscar Rorie (Mary) of Wingate, NC and Ernest Covington (Rose) of Wingate, NC; three sisters, Lillie Rorie Polk of Wingate, NC, Pauline Hailey of Monroe, NC and Savannah Howard of Wingate, NC and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins anf other relatives and dear friends.
