MRS. PAULINE COOK WILLMORE, 85 of MOUNT GILEAD, NC (Wadeville Community), passed away Friday, October 28, 2016, at Firsthealth / Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, NC.
Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Roper Grove A.M.E Zion Church, 196 Roper Grove Church Rd., Mount Gilead, NC 27306. Interment will follow in the Bruton Cemetery, Mount Gilead, NC (Wadeville Community).
A public viewing will be Friday November 4, 2016, from 12:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Mount Gilead, NC.
Pauline, known to many as "Sis", was born on Monday, November 3, 1930, the only daughter of 8 children born to the late Edgar and Annie Martin Cook. She exchanged mortality for immortality on Friday, October 28, 2016, after a brief illness, in the Firsthealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, NC.
She attended Wadeville School ih Wadeville, NC and graduated from Peabody High School in Troy, NC. Pauline joined Roper Grove A.M.E. Zion Church at an early age and remained a loyal member until her health began to decline. She served in the following capacities; Usher Board, Lay Council President, Kitchen Committee, Van Driver and a member of the Senior Choir. She was a also a retiree of Clayson Knitting in Star, NC. After retiring, she worked for a short period at Bojangles of Troy, NC.
Pauline was united in holy matrimony to George Willmore. In this union, she gained a son. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; six brothers, Fletcher, Woodrow, Monroe, Robert, Homer, and her twin brother, Paul; one great-granddaughter, Niyah Alston and a special friend, Johnsie Harris.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories; two daughters, Margaret Chambers (Homer) of Mount Gilead, NC and Beverly Buie of the home; one adopted daughter, Frances Martin of Mount Gilead, NC; one step-son, Tyrone Westbrook of Charlotte, NC; one brother, Alonzo Cook of Mount Gilead, NC; six sisters-in-law, Vaughn Cook, Elizabeth Cook and Carolyn Cook, all of Mount Gilead, NC, Thelma Bailey and Helen Sidberry, both of Charlotte, NC, and Dianne Willmore, of Lancaster, SC; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two special friends, Annie Mae Lewis and Mildred Lewis, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be truly missed in the home, community and church with her sinnging, "Do all I Can For The Lord". We loved her, but God loved her best!
