MR. PEARL PEMBERTON, JR., 76 of TROY, NC, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Atrium Health-Stanly, Albemarle, NC.

A Private Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, May 23. 2020. (DUE TO COVID 19 PANDEMIC) ONLY IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBERS WILL BE ALLOWED AT THE SERVICE. There will be no Public Viewing.

As his breathing grew short to hold the rope of life, Pearl Pemberton Jr., 76, of Troy, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020, in the Atrium Health-Stanly of Albemarle, NC.

Pearl was born on Thursday, August 12, 1943, in Richmond County, NC, to the late Pearl Sr., and Cora Legrand Pemberton.

He attended Peabody High School, where he was granted a scholarship to play football at Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC, but he began working at Capel Mills, other various jobs and retired from the Town of Troy.

He was an avid golfer, loved sports, fishing and spending times with his grandchildren..

Pearl is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Pemberton of Albemarle, NC; daughters, Coretta of Rockingham, NC,  Latisha (Tito) of Greensboro, NC and son, Philmore Junior Horton of Albemarle, NC; sisters, Shirley P. Bowden of Troy, NC, Carolyn P. Young of Trinity, NC, Irene Green (Donell) of Mt. Gilead, NC, and Flora Jenkins (Russell) of Charleston, SC; one brother, James Pemberton of Troy, NC; grandchildren; Camerie, Tyquan, Jeremy, Johnathan, Tyliyah, Candace,Tamara, Jaden; great-grandchildren; Aziyah McRae; and very dear friend,Earl Young and wife; two special nephews, Cleodis Bowden (Elbow) and Earl Young Buck (Buck); close friends/cousins, Mr. & Mrs. David Barringer; and  host of nieces nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
