Peter Steele

MR. PETER STEELE  76, of MT. GILEAD, NC passed away Friday, January 3, 2020, at Bethany Woods Nursing Facility in Albemarle  NC.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, January 9, 2020 at the Thomasville Missionary Baptist Church, 233 Thomasville Church Rd., MT. Gilead, NC.  Interment will follow in the Chestnut A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery, 7093 Grassy Island Rd., MT. Gilead, NC.

A public viewing will be held 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday, January 8, 2019 at Harris Funeral Home and Cremations of MT. Gilead  NC, which is serving the Steele, Pankey and extended families.

Peter, the son of the late Lacy Steele Sr., and Elesteen Pankey Steele, was born on Friday, June 4, 1943, in Montgomery County, North Carolina.

Peter graduated from the public schools of Montgomery County and joined Thomasville Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until his passing.

Peter was employed by Megawood in Troy, North Carolina for many years and retired because of health reasons.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Blenda LeGrand Steele; brothers, Frank Steele and Lacy Steele, Jr., ans a sister, Hattie J. Steele.

Peter, a kind, caring and understanding person. leaves to cherish loving memories to his two children, Peter Anthony Steele (Tina) of Charlotte, North Carolina and Tammy Warrington (Rodney) of Greensboro, North Carolina; two sisters, Pauline Mack of Mt. Gilead, North Carolina and Mary Woods of Livingston, New Jersey; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; seven sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
