Ramelle Virginia (Gillespie) Redfern

January 4, 1937 — January 6, 2014

Mrs. Ramelle Virginia Gillespie Redfern, 77 of Marshville, NC died Monday, January 6, 2014 at Hospice of Union County in Monroe, NC.  Funeral Services will be held 1pm Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Piney Grove East Missionary Baptist Church, 1708 Ansonville Rd., Marshville, NC 28103 with interment to follow in the Church Cemetery. Public viewing will be held 11am to 7pm Friday, January 10, 2014 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe, NC.

Ms. Ramelle "Big Ma" was born Monday, January 4, 1937 in Union County, NC a daughter of the late Van Lee and Virginia Parker Gillespie.  She joined Piney Grove East Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful member until her health began to decline.  Preceding her in death was her Parents; Husband Mr. Henry Redfern; one sister; Magdalene (Chester) Rorie; six brothers; Mr. Homer Gillespie,(who is survived by his wife Mrs. Emma Gillespie), Mr. Zeb Gillespie (who is survived by his wife Mrs. Elizabeth Gillespie), Mr. Heath Gillespie, Mr. J Vann Gillespie and Mr. Clarence Gillespie. Mrs. Redfern is also survived by a sister in law Ms. Alice Covington of Charlotte, NC.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories; three daughters; Jeanette (Dennis) Huntley of Marshville, NC, Mrs. Doris (Jeffrey) Cloud of Marshville, NC and Mrs. Victoria (Minister Christopher) Barrett of Monroe, NC; two sons; Avance Gillespie of Indian Trail, NC and John (Daisy Lee) Gillespie of Marshville, NC ; 10 Grandchildren, 15 Great-grandchildren and three Great-Great grandchildren and a host of Neices, Nephews, Cousins and Friends. A special thanks is exended to Mr. Jeffery Cloud for the Care, Love and Support that he gave to our Mother in her final months here on earth.
