Reverend Dewey Rudisell

REVEREND DEWEY RUDISELL, 86 of MOUNT GILEAD, NC, passed away Friday, January 22, 2016 at First Health / Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC. Funeral services will be held 12pm Saturday, January 30, 2016 at West Montgomery High School Auditorium, 147 Warrior Rd., Mount Gilead, NC 27306.  Visitation will be held 11:30am to 12pm at the Auditorium prior to the service.  Military Honors and Interment will be held 1pm Monday, February 1, 2016 at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.  A public viewing will be held 12pm to 7pm Friday, January 29, 2016 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Mount Gilead, NC.

Reverend Rudisell, a son of the late William and Elsie Bruton Rudisell, was born on October 5, 1929, in Montgomery County, NC.  He was a retiree of Norfolk-Southern.  He was a former Pastor of Snow Hill A.M.E. Zion Church and Wadeville A.M.E. Zion Church,  where he retired in 2008 due to declining health.

Reverend Rudisell, was a Veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the Benson Montgomery American Legion Post #358 of Troy, NC.  He was also a member of Mount Gilead Masonic Lodge #196, where he was a Past Master and Past Patron of Oakridge Chapter #546, also of Mount Gilead.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as two brothers, James and Frank Rudisell of Washington, DC.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Lucille Greene Rudisell and daughter, Blondine G. Rudisell, both of the home; sons, Barry Rudisell (Janice) of Raleigh, NC and Milton Rudisell of Fredricksburg, VA., granddaughters, Kendra Wilson and Lontina Daniels, both of Greensboro, NC, both reared in the home and 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; three nieces, Patricia Gibbs of Pennsylvania, Elaine Pearce of California, Diane (Glenn) of Maryland; one nephew, James (Jackie) Rudisell of New York; God-children, Gloria (Allen) McMillian of Raeford, NC and Reverend David Wooley of Mount Gilead, NC; eight brothers-in-law, nine sisters-in-law, and other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
