MR. ROBERT LEE CROUTCH, 78 of MONROE, NC passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the Union Chapel Baptist Church, 621 E. Lawyers Rd., Monroe, NC 28110. Full Military Honors and Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
A public viewing will be held 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday, November 12, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC whom is serving the Croutch, Meadows and extended families.
Robert Lee Croutch, a son of the late Narlie Croutch and Mary Meadows Croutch, was born on Thursday, May 2, 1940, in Union County, North Carolina. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at his residence.
He joined Union Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon, Siunday School Superintendent, First Lead Singer of the Choirs and designed the remodeling of the New Union Chapel on cardboard paper.
Robert was the first african american councilman of Unionville from 1998-2015. He was a graduate of Western Union High School, Class of 1958. He served in the United States Air Force for 2 years. Many that new him, knew he loved God and loved singing a song from his heart. His favorite artist was the Jackson Southernaires of Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, RZ, Bobby, and Narlie and a sister, Lorretta Meadows.
He was united in holy matrimony to Miss Gladys Anita Barnes. To this union, five children were born, Rhonda Caldwell (Gary), Wanda Croutch, Rodney Croutch (Tanya), Sophia Black (Norman) and Dionne Croutch; four brothers, Thomas (Ethel), Earnest (Margie), Henry (Myra-deceased), Ellis (Rose) Meadows; four sisters, MaryLee Lindsey (James), Alice Morrow (Sammy), Vanessa Grier (Danny) and Denise Edgeworth(Ron-deceased); 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
