Ruth Marie (Polk) Perry

MRS. RUTH MARIE POLK-PERRY, 61 of MONROE, NC, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at CHS Hospice of Union County in Monroe, NC.

Funeral Services will be held 12p.m.  Saturday, August 20, 2016, at the Mount Calvary AME Zion Church, 800 LaSalle St., Monroe, NC, with Pastor Robyn Gool, eulogist.

Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Monroe, NC.  A public viewing will be held 1:00pm to 7:00pm,  Friday August 19, 2016, at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Monroe, NC.

Ruth Marie was born on Tuesday, March 8, 1955, to the late Henry C. Polk and Ellen Ruth Polk, in Union County, NC.  She departed this life on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, to be with the Lord.

She attended Monroe Hig h School and later worked in the sewing industry.

Ruth was a member of Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church and rededicated her life back to Christ in the spring of 2016.  Many were touched by her acts of kindness and giving spirit.  Momma Ruth, as she was known by her grandchildren, was an excellent caregiver and perfectionist at sewing, cooking and cleaning. She will be truly missed.

She leaves cherished memories to her two daughters, Katrina Little (Charles) of Orange Park, Fl., and Kim Perry of Monroe, NC; four sisters, Vanessa Polk of Concord, NC, Cathy Polk of Monroe, NC, Pamela Polk and Janice Polk, both of Wingate, NC; one brother, James Polk(Nicole), of Monroe, NC; two aunts, Martha Morrison and S. Diane Ayers; three uncles, Henry Williams, Roosevelt Williams(Pauline) and Donald Polk(Dorothy); grandsons, Justin, Charles,Jr., Cameron, Joshua, Silas and Jonathan; granddaughters Amber, Aaliyah and D'Asia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
