Sandra Ramona (Lee) Cherry

MRS. SANDRA RAMONA LEE CHERRY, 66 of WAXHAW, NC passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held 1:30 pm Sunday, March 6, 2022 at the Greater Blessed Hope Baptist Church, 3607 Andrew Jackson Dr., Waxhaw, NC. with her remains to lie in repose 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe, NC

(Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic everyone attending the Service and Public Viewing are required to wear a mask or facial covering.  Also please use the Hand Sanitizing Station when entering and exiting the Funeral Home.)

A public viewing will be held 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC.

Sandra was born in Union County , NC, Sunday, October 2, 1955 a daughter of the late Jay Francis Lee and Mary McCullough Lee.  She gained her wings on Saturday, February 26, 2022.

Sandra graduated from Parkwood High School in 1973.  She also graduated from South Piedmont Community College with her associate degree in Early Childhood Education in 2012.  She was known for her basketball skills, reading and her love for children.  Sandra began her career in Early Education as an assistant  at Waxhaw Elementary School helping young children learn to read.  After achieving her associate degree she became a head start teacher at Union County Community Action, Inc.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister; Lou Lee, one brother Henry Lee, one niece; Nita Lee, father-in-law; Jerry Laney and best friend Linda Sue Barber.

She left to cherish her memory her husband of 47 years  Ronnie A. Cherry, three daughters; Yolanda (Marty) Cauthen of Waxhaw, NC, Nichelle (Chris) Leaks of Monroe, NC and Linda Christensen of Waxhaw, NC, one granddaughter; Destin Leaks of Monroe, NC, three grandsons; Allen Christensen of Waxhaw, NC, Miles Leaks of Monroe, NC and Jay Christensen of Waxhaw, NC, four sisters; Dicie Lee of Dallas, TX, Bessie Lee of Decatur, GA , R. Ann Lee of Charlotte, NC and  M. Patricia Lee of Decatur, GA, a brother; Kevin Lee of Waxhaw, NC, her mother-in-law; Dorothy Laney of Waxhaw, NC,  her father-in-law; Richard A. (Valeria) Coffey and special sister-in-law, her ride or die Vsti (William) Belk, Jr. of Waxhaw, NC and special niece Lois (Ricky) Williams of Monroe, NC.  She had three brothers-in-laws, five sisters-in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
