Mr. Scarboro  "Punkin" Stanback, Jr., 69 of (Dry Creek Community) Candor,  NC, passed away Monday morning, August 23, 2021 at his residence.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2021, East Montgomery High School Auditorium, 157 Eagle Lane, Biscoe, NC. Military Honors and Interment will follow in the  Greenlake Congregational Church Cemetery (old) in the Pekin Community of Candor, NC.

Public viewing will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home Chapel.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, it is asked that you wear a mask or a facial covering when entering and exiting the Funeral Home and the Chapel.  Also use the Hand Sanitizer upon entering and exiting the  chapel for the safety of our families and staff.  Thank You.

Mr. Scarboro Stanback Jr. , a son of the late Scarboro Stanback, Sr. and Sallie Armstrong Sullivan, was born on Saturday, August  23, 1952 in Montgomery County, NC.  He departed this earthly life on Monday,  August 23, 2021, at his  home  in Candor, NC.

Scarboro was a graduate of  Peabody High School in Troy, NC, where he excelled in Math.  In his young adult life, he was married to Earnestine Hill, in which that union, brought three children. Scarboro , enlisted in the US Army and spent several memorable years in Germany.  After his Army career, he then moved to Greensboro, NC, in which he worked at Cone Mills and also had a successful construction career.

Later on, Scarboro married Beverly Hooker, with whom he shared 17 1/2 years and to that union he gained nine step-children, five grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, and five brothers-in-law.  He attended Greenlake Congregational Church.

Scarboro was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sonya Hill and a sister, Billie Ruth McBride.

Those left to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Beverly; son, Scottie Stanback (Brenda) of Candor, NC; daughter, Natasha Anderson (Brian) of  Greensboro, NC; five grandchildren, Garrie  McBride, Sr.., Tiana Nelson, Sjabreih Blyther, Amber Collins and Cameron Tatum; four great-grandchildren, Khaidyn, Easton, Jeremiah and Garrie, Jr.; sister, Katie Powell; brother, George "Toby" Collins; aunt, Josephine Baldwin and brother-in-law, Evester McBride, all of Candor, NC; sister-in-law, Latanya Williams og Georgia; special friends, Jesse Hill, Ivory Hill, Robert Hill, Gracie Hill, Selma Hill, Mary & Martha Hill and Daphne Deberry of Asheboro,  NC; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
