MRS. SELMA LEE BYRUM DAVIS, 85 of MONROE, NC passed away Wednesday,March 9, 2022 at her home.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the Watts Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 3501 N. Rocky River Road, Monroe, NC. Mrs. Davis remains will lie in repose 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
( Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic everyone attending the Service and Public Viewing are required to wear a mask or facial covering. Also please use the Hand Sanitizing Station when entering and exiting the Funeral Home.)
A public viewing will be held 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Friday, March 11, 2022 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC which is serving the Davis, Byrum and extended families.
To know her was to love her because of her Effervescent persona that always exudes " I LOVE YOU MORE" With her voicemail messages that may include a song, " I just called to say I love you. I just called to say how much I care. I just called to say I love you. And i mean it from the bottom of my heart." She was so humble and so sweet with such a welcoming smile....But don't take it for granted. Shw would definitely let you knonw when you've pushed the wrong button with just a little side eye.
Selma Lee Byrum Davis was born on December 1, 1936 to the late JB and Kathleen Byrum. She was raised in Monroe, NC, where she met the love of her life Lewis (LC) Davis. They were married on April 27, 1952, 69 years strong and blessed.
Selma went back to school to finish her high school degree before attendung Dudley cosmetology and there after she received her state license and certification. After the age of 50 years old, she started teaching and coaching at the Beauty School before deciding to start her business, "Selma's Salon of Beauty" where her motto was (Where Looking Good Is Understood).
Selma accepted Christ at the early age of 12 and has served Him faithfully until her transition . She was a devoted member of Morning Star A.M.E. Zion Church for many years while she sand and traveled with the Morning Star Quartet and Sunday mornings on WMAP Monroe Radio Station until she transferred to attend Watts Grove Baptist Church in support of her husband where she served as a Deaconess, President of the Wa,tts Grove Missionary Board, Head Usher and sand on the Hymn Choir. Selma served as the Women's Auxillary President of the Lanes Creek Baptist Associationas well as participate and served other community organizations.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories to her husband, Lewis (L.C.) Davis of Monroe, NC; 6 sons, Lewis Calvin, Jr.,Ricky Donell (Sharon), all of Monroe, NC, Pastor Patrick (Lela) of Pageland, SC, Eugene, Larry Howard (Charlotte) and Steven, all of Monroe, NC; 4 daughters, Sherley Little and Sandra Moore (Austin) all of Charlotte, NC, Burnadeen Covington of Monroe, NC and Norma Davis of Pineville, NC. One daughter, Brenda Lee, preceded her in death; one sister, Mary Torres (Ismael) of Monroe, NC. Three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. 22 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-greandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loves her very dearly.
