MR. SHAMAR CARLLO DORSEY, SR., 37 of CHARLOTTE, NC passed away Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Atrium Health / Main in Charlotte, NC.
Graveside Services will be held 12:00pm Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the Suncrest Cemetery, 891 Bickett St., Monroe, NC.
(Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic everyone attending the Service and Public Viewing are required to wear a mask or facial covering. Also please use the Hand Sanitizing Station when entering and exiting the Funeral Home.)
A public viewing will be held 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Friday, April 9, 2021 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC which is serving the Dorsey, Frisby and Rodwell families.
Shamar was born on Friday, January 27, 1984, to Ruth E. Frisby (Dorsey) and the late Melvin D. Dorsey, Sr., in Chester, Pennyslvania. He was educated in the Chester Upland School District before moving to Monroe, NC in 1991. He attended Monroe High School graduating in 2002.
Later on in life, Shamar became an ordained evangelist under the leadership of the late Dr. Juanita D. Frisby. Shamar loved God and doing the work of the Lord, which is what he did until he gained his wings,
On August 3, 2003, Shamar met his wife Latoya. They were married and became one on July 7, 2004. Together they started the non-profit organization Team Ambition to help motivate and encourage individuals in the community, Shamar loved to encourage others. He wanted to see everybody be successful. If he saw something in you, he would definitely oush you to accomplish your goals. Shamar started a L.I.F.E. Clothing line that encourages individuals to live life to the fullest, He was also the CEO of Ambition Nusiik and Ambition Entertainment. Shamar was known as Big Homie, King Mar, Mr. Positive Vibes and Mr. Petty.
He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin D. Dorsey, Sr; his grandparents, Wilbert Driggins, Sr. and Dr. Juanita D. Frisby, Esco and Annie Dorsey; three auntsk Anne, Sharon and Mary Ann and one unclem Wilbert, Jr,
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 16 years, Latoya Dorsey and three children, Shaniah, Shamar, Jr., and ShaRod; his mother, Ruth E. Frisby (Dorsey); one sister, Latisha Dorsey and two brothers, Melvin Dorseyk Jr., and Andre Shivers; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.
