MRS. SHERRY PEMBERTON BOWDEN, 49 of CHARLOTTE, NC formerly of  MT. GILEAD, NC passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Novant Health / Matthews Medical Center in Matthews, NC.

Graveside Services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the Mount Airy A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery, 322 Rosenwald School  Rd., MT. Gilead, NC.

Sherry Pemberton Bowden, fondly known as "Lil Bit", born on Thursday, January 4, 1973, left this earthly home at the age of 49 on Thursday, May 19, 2022 in Matthews, NC, with her loving husband by her side.

Sherry, was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph William Pemberton and Joyce Stanback Pemberton and a brother, Delvin Rudolph William Pemberton, Sr.

Sherry was educated in the Montgomery County, NC, School System and graduated from West Montgomery High School in 1992.  Soon after, she began her career in healthcare industry, where she passionately cared for her patients for 30 years.  She also had a successful cleaning business for many years.  Sherry served as President of the HOA (Home Owners Association) for Rosegate Housing Development.

At an early age, "Lil Bit" joined Mt. Airy A.M.E. Zion Church in Mt. Gilead, NC.  She attended Greater Life in Matthews, NC, while living in Charlotte, NC.

Sherry became a member of Black Girls Run Charlotte until her health declined.  She had a heart of gold and believed in helping others before herself.

" Lil Bit" lived  the life she dreamed.  She loved traveling, and her favorite  was cruising the Disney Ship with family and friends in tow.  She enjoyed tailgating was the hostess with the mostest.  She will always be remembered by her contagious laugh and Big Smile. She loved her family and they loved her.

Sherry leaves to cherish her memories to a loving and devoted husband, Darren Bowden of 20 years of the home; three loving sisters; Sharon Stanback Gilliam (Michael) of McLeansville, NC, Michelle Pemberton West (Wayne) and Lavonne Pemberton Jones, all of Mt. Gilead, NC; one loving brother, Courtney Little (Dominique) of Clayton, NC, sister-in-law Tammy  Sturdivant of Morven, NC; three aunts, four aunts, Ann Patterson and Polly Steele (Henry), all of Mt. Gilead, NC, Sue McLeod and Mary Helen Pemberton, both of Greensboro, NC; three nieces, Courtney Sturdivant, Asia Jones and Ava Little; five nephews, Anthony Jones, Jr., Adam West, Adrian Jones, Jr., Andrew Jones and Ace Little; two great-nephews, Kayden Jones and Amir Pegues; one great-niece, Trinity Jones; a special cousin, Claudine Barber, and a host of other relatives and friends.
