MISS SHINTA RENETTE BRAXTON, 58 of CHARLOTTE, NC formerly of Detroit, MI passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Atrium Health / Northeast in Concord, NC.
Funeral Services will be held 12:00 pm Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at the Harris Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Monroe, NC.
(Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic eveyone attending the Service and Public Viewing are required to wear a mask or facial covering. Also please use the Hand Sanitizing Station when entering and exiting the Funeral Home.)
A public Viewing will be held 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Monday, March 8, 2021 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC.
Ms. Shinta Rennette Braxton aka Shanita was born on Monday, December 17, 1962, to Lenora Braxton and the late L. C. Jones in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Martin Luther King, Jr. High School in 1981, where she excelled in Tennis, track and field and won All City in Volleyball. Shanita used her love of sports to coach her daughters volleyball teams. Shanita attended Schoolcraft College where she studied Culinary Arts and grew to love baking and decorating cakes of which she turned into a homebaased business. She had a most beautiful smile that we didn't get enough of..
As a young girl, Shanita was a "tomboy" of sorts who loved music and to dance of which she excelled and won a dance contest in her late teens. Her favorite musical artist were Teena Marie and Princce and she was drove blasting her tunes. She worked many years ar Schober Printing Company with her Mom " Bonus Dad", but her favorite job was driving rhe huge industrial dump and construction truck for the City of Detroit. Shanita moved permantley to Charlotte, NC, where she drove for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. The children and parents loved her and often gave her gifts of appreciation.
Shanita left her herthen vessel on on March 3, 2021 after battling with Covid 19 for 16 days at Atrium/Cabarrus Hospital. She leaved on this side of heaven her mother Lenora Hughes, " Bonus Dad" James Hughes; Aunt Louise Porter; her children, Zakiya Montgomery, Zarriah Finnery (Dante), Zamire Bailey; Charliee; Carolyn Faulkner (Dr. Carvel), Efrem Braxton, Stephen Anderson, Stephanie Taylor (Joddest), Nieces: Jaasmine Wafer, Cierra Hampton, Amari Traylor, Nephews, Joseph Powell, III, Damadai Powell, Sr., Evan Braxton, Zayven Braxton, along with a host of ngreat-nieces, nephews, in'laws, and friends.
