Shirley Ann (Chambers) Coffie

MS. SHIRLEY ANN CHAMBERS COFFIE, 75 of MONROE, NC, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 at CHS Hospice of Union County in Monroe, NC.  Graveside Services will be held 3:00pm Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Monroe, NC.

Born Thursday, July 10, 1941 a daughter of the late Pvt. Edgar Lewis Gatewood and Betsy Eugenia Chambers. Shirley accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Mount Calvary AME Zion Church of Monroe, NC, attended Winchester High School in Monroe, NC and was employed by Mutual Industrial of Monroe, NC.  Shirley was very outgoing and befriended everyone she met and was always the life of the Party and always full of laughter. Shirley loved her family dearly and they were always her first priority, everyone who knew her, knew she loved music and dancing.  She was preceded in death by her Parents; one brother; Herman Young and a special friend James Thomas Williams.

Shirley leaves fond memories to two daughters; Patricia Coffie and Clara Coffie both of Monroe, NC, two sisters; Ancie Blount and Betty Leak (Kelly) both of Monroe, NC, two brothers; Charles Davis (Gwen) of Monroe, NC and Herman Chambers of Rhode Island. Four grandchildren; Marcus Coffie (Jennifer) of Charlotte, NC, Lekeshia Stafford (Wilson), Neharold Walls (Anita) and Camisha Walls all of Monroe, NC, 14 Great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews other realives and dear friends.
