Stella Louise (Haywood) Hinson

January 10, 1922 — April 9, 2019

MRS. STELLA LOUISE HAYWOOD HINSON, 97, of MT. GILEAD, NC died Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, April 14, 2019 at the West Montgomery High School Auditorium, 147 Warrior Dr., MT. Gilead, NC.

Interment will follow in McAuley Memorial Gardens in MT. Gilead, NC.  A public viewing will be held 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Harris Funeral Home and Cremations of MT. Gilead, NC  whom is serving the Hinson, Haywood, and  extended families.

"He who dwells in the shelter of the most high, will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say of the Lord, He is refuge and fortress, my God in him whom I trust".

Stella Louise Haywood Hinson, was born on Tuesday, January 10, 1922, in the Montgomery County, NC, to the late Will Haywood and Willa Mae Chambers Haywood Dumas.  She exchanged time for eternity peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, evening April 9, 2019.

Louise, as she was fondly called by everyone, was united in holy matrimony to William Clifton Hinson and to this union, they were blessed with seven children, James, Jerry, Clifton, Willie, Ivory, Lela and Gary.

Louise accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Ingram Chapel AME Zion Church, Mt. Gilead, NC.  She later joined McAuley Memorial AME Zion Church, where she was the Church Mother and remained active until her health began to decline,  While at McAuley, she was President of the Pastor's Aid, member of the McAuley Gospel Choir, Missionary Society, Kitchen Committee and Church Mother.  She worked anywhere she was needed.  She had the gift of helping anyone in need.

She attended the public schools of Montgomery County and attended Peabody High School in Troy, NC.   She was also a member of the Benson Montgomery Ladies Auxillary #358 in Troy, NV.

She was gainfully employed by the following; Kirk Bakery, McRae Shoe Factory and Mid State Tile, all in Mt. Gilead until she retired.  Louise also enjoyed fellowshipping with the Seniors at the Highland Community Center until her health declined.

Louise was preceded inn death by her parents, husband Cliff; son Jerry; three sisters, Merline Lilly (CB), Marie D.Lilly (Cleveland) and Geneva Hinson (Linwood, Sr.) and one brother, Curtis Dumas.  She lived to see five generations and will be sorely missed.

Those left to carry on her legacy and to honor her memory, her daughters, Ivory Jean Watkins of Greensboro, NC and Lela Harris (Leroy) of Mt. Gilead, NC; four sons, James E. Dumas of Mt. Gilead, NC, Willie Hinson of Bridgeton, NJ,Clifton Linden of Antwerp, Belgium and Gary Haywood Hinson of the home; three sisters, Lena B. Crews of Greensboro, NC, Juanita Baldwin of Candor, NC and Sarah J. Leake of Mt. Gilead, NC; one brother, Robert Dumas, Sr., (Katie) of Mt. Gilead, NC; special daughter, Angela Leak (Richard) of Mt. Gilead, NC; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren; special in-laws, whom she loved dearly, Brenda Dumas of Richmond, VA; Larry Watkins of Kings Mountain, NC; Rose Hinson Murphy of Killeen, TX and Barbara Little of Troy, NC; special friends; Montie Hoover of Mt. Gilead, NC, Gwen Hill of Thomasville, NC, Debra Mauney and Omar Pauling of Norwood, NC; special sister-in-law, Gladys Scarboro of Philadelphia, PA; God children, Derrick Watkins of Mt. Gilead and Kenisha Hinson of Greensboro and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends..
