Steven Virgil Harley

MR. STEVEN VIRGIL HARLEY, 58 of MONROE, NC passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2021.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, May 7, 2021 at the Christ Bible Discipleship Worship Center, 1019 Unarco Rd., Marshville, NC.  Interment will follow in the Suncrest Cemetery,  891 Bickett St., Monroe, NC.

(Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic everyone attending the Service and Public Viewing are required to wear a mask or facial covering.  Also please use the Hand Sanitizing when entering and exiting the Funeral Home.)

A public viewing will be held 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC.

Steven Virgil Harley, affectionately known as "True" by his family and friends, was born in Queens, New York on December13, 1962.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John Harley and Dora Harley Satchell, one sister, Raychelle Harley and a brother, Sherwood Harley..

Steven grew up in New York where he attended public schooling.  He received an Associates Degree from Medaille College.  He has worked at a variety of jobs but excelled the most where he was  able to interact with other people.  He moved to North Carolina over 20 years ago.  He was currently employed at Berry Global where he established close relationships with several of his co-workers.  During his last hospital stay, Steven rededicated his life back to the Lord..

He was the oldest of eight siblings.  He took this role serious and was the protector of them. What you saw in Steven is always what you got.  He was fun-loving, good hearted and a generous person.  Most importantly, Steven had a deep love for his family and cherished the times he could spend with them.  He will stay with us through our memories of his laugh, his jokes that he forced us to endure whether we were in the mood for them or not.  One of his niece's described him perfectltbwhen she said, "My uncle was the life of the party."  His jokes  and comebacks were serious..  Nothing but all laughs around him, "One of his favorite sayings was "It'll be okay, it's not that serious Deborah".  He was an avid sports fan.  You could say nothing wrong about his favorite teams, the New York Knicks, New York Jets and the New York Mets.  He was so excited that the Knicks were having such a good season and coming off of a nine game winning streak.

Steven leaves to cherish his  memories, his wife, Deborah  Harley; his son, Shaquan Lattimore of Atanta, GA, step-father, Larry Satchell of Marion, SC; three brothers, Darryl Harley of Queens, NY, Andre Harley (Gladys) of Brooklyn, NY and Terrel Harley of Denver, Col., two sisters, Vivian Harley-Alston (Al) of Denver, Col., Clarissa Harley of Brooklyn, NY; three stp-children, Brian Rushing (Dawn) of Raleigh, NC, Alysha Simmons of Fort Mill, SC, Ryan  Davis (Quinton) of Monroe, NC; mother-in-law, Bobbie Rushing of Monroe, NC; one aunt, Ollie White of Marion SC; a special friend, Johnny Simpson of Charlotte, NC; three nieces who he was especially close to, Millicent Harley-Alston, Taqualla Harley and Raychelle Satchell; two brothers-in-law, four-sisters-in-law, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
