MRS. VAGGAREE "SUE" THOMAS SMITH, 82 of MOUNT GILEAD, NC, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 at First Health Hospice in Pinehurst, NC.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2018, at the West Montgomery High School Auditorium, 147 Warrior Rd., Mount Gilead, NC 27306. Visitation will held 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm at the Auditorium prior to the service.
Interment will follow in the Thomasville Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Mount Gilead, NC.
A public viewing will be held 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, October 5, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home and Cremations of Mount Gilead, NC, whom is serving the Smith, Thomas and extended families.
Sister Vaggaree "Sue" Thomas Smith, was born on Thursday, March 26, 1936, to the late Dave and Mildred Greene Thomas. She departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 29, 2018, in the Firsthealth Hospice House in Pinehurst, NC.
At an early age, Sue confessed Christ and joined Walls Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She received her education in the Montgomery County Public School. She attended several churches in the Mt. Gilead Community faithfully until her health declined.
She was a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Masons-Order of the Eastern Stars Central Jurisdiction, Inc. She was a faithful hardworking member of the Eastern Star #30 Exway Community for 52 years.
Sue was compassionate, kind and a sensitive person that would do what she could for her family, church family, community family and her organization.
sue was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Mildred Thomas; husband, James W. Smith; daughter, Sandra K. Smith; four brothers, David, Otis, Vonnie and Elsie Thomas; two sister, Hester Pankey and Georgia Welch, three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
Sue leaves to cherish her memories, five daughters, Carolyn Christian (Bro. Louis) of Wadeville, NC, Janice Thomas of Asheboro, NC, Ernestine Robinson (Herbert) of Mt. Gilead, NC, Geraldine Collins (James) and Brenda M. Smith, all of Asheboro, NC; three sons, Edward Smith, Willie Smith and Bruce Smith, and adopted son, Russell Bogan, all of Mt. Gilead; two brothers, Agusta Thomas of Mt. Gilead, NC and Jim Thomas(Pauline) of New Haven, CT., two sisters, Mattie Thomas of Mt. Gilead, NC and Eva Thomas of Troy, NC; 22 grandchildren-special grandchildren, Cheryl Woodard, Latonya Collins, Monita Smith, Susan Smith, Emmanuel Christian and Brandon, Smith; 48 great-grandchildren; special great-grandson, Brandon Smith, Jr.,; 19 great-great-grandchildren; nine nieces, special niece(Ella Bea Knight); nine nephews-special nephews, Christopher Thomas, Gerald Thomas; five close friends, Lucille Rudisell, Naomi Bogan and Linda Steele, all of Mt. Gilead, NC, and a host of nieces, cousins and friends.
