Vashti Janie (Bolder) Williams

​MRS. VASHTI JANIE BOLDER WILLIAMS, 75 of  MONROE, NC ​ ​passed away Monday, January 22, 2018 at Novant Health / Matthews Medical Center, Matthews, NC.

​Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, 503 Maurice St., Monroe, NC.  Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Monroe, NC.

​A public viewing will be held 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, January 26, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC.

Vashti Bolder Williams, a daughter of the late Ida Livingston and Blake Bolder, was born on Thursday, October 29, 1942, in Monroe, NC.

Vashti met the love of her life at a young age and remained married for over 57 years.  She love her family fiercely, especially her children and grandchildren and was always there for anyone who needed her.  For many years, she was an active volunteer with the department of Social Services, often helping the Christmas Bureau distribute food and gifts to families in need during the holiday season.  As her health declined, she couldn't be as active but she always found a way to help others.  One of her favorite organizations to help was American Heart Association.

In 1991, Vashti received the gift of a second chance at life when she received a heart transplant.  During her time of healing, Vashti found a love for sewing and continued to hone her craft over the years.  Sewing was not only a type of therapy or hobby for her, it became a major part of her life.  She was known as the best seamstress in town.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Blake Bolder, Jr., Clarence Bolder and Berthenia Thornton.

She will be forever cherished by her husband, Eddie Williams, Sr., and her two loving sons, Eddie Williams, Jr.(Carolyn) of Indian Trail, NC and Marcus X (Doris) of Laurinburg, NC; 8 grandchildren, Tiffany Carver (Michael) of Durham, NC, Shanika Walker of Savannah, GA, Shaquana Boggan of Wingate, NC, Kendra Williams of Statesville, NC, Marlon Williams of Wingate, NC and Mishay Pettiford of Marshville, NC, Brittanie Howard of Durham, NC and Simona Williams Barrett (Thermond) of Pageland, SC; sisters, Sarah Cherry (James) of Brooklyn, NY, Belinda Clyburn (Larry) of Lancaster, SC and brother, Jay Will Bolder (Karen) of Monroe, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
