Veatrice (Medley) Ellerbe

Mrs Veatrice Medley Ellerbe,87 of Mount Gilead, NC died Monday, October 7, 2013 at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Biscoe, NC.  Funeral Services will be held 1pm Friday, October 11, 2013 at Oliver Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 232 Davis-Haywood Rd., Mount Gilead, NC 27306.  Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.  Public viewing will be held 12 noon to 7pm Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Mount Gilead, NC.

Born Sunday, April 18, 1926 a daughter of the late Snow Medley and Bertha McRae.  Raised in Richmond County, NC and attended Rosenwald Elementary School and Ellerbe Colored High School. She was married to the late Raymond Ellerbe, Jr. and to this union eight children were born, two sons, Jack Ellerbe and William Ellerbe preceded her in death. Mrs.Ellerbe was a stay at home Mom, a NC Public School Bus Driver as well as a public school dietician.

Mrs. Ellerbe leaves to cherish loving memories to one daughter; Doreen Bowden, (Ricky), daughter in law; Hallie M. Ellerbe, five sons; Raymond Ellerbe, III, (Beulah), Gary Ellerbe, Attorney Billie Ellerbe, John Ellerbe, (Anita) and Taylor Ellerbe; twelve grandchilldren; Hayley Richardson, Jack Ellerbe, Jr., Jarvis Ellerbe, Theolonious Ellerbe, Deanna Legrand, Chelsea Bowden, Jessica Ellerbe Johnson, Latannia Ellerbe, Keisence Hodge, Juliette Miller, Tyson Ellerbe and Jaylin Ellerbe; seven great-grandchildren; Marcus Ellerbe, Chenara Ellerbe, Keymora Ellerbe, Jarred Ellerbe, Chase Legrand, Cameron Legrand and Caleb Ellerbe and four great-great grandchildren; Makia Ellerbe, Mariah  Ellerbe, Lydia Ellerbe and Amya Ellerbe and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
