Walter Henry Gibson, Sr.

MR. WALTER  HENRY  GIBSON, SR., 85 of  MONROE, NC passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Atrium Health / Hospice of Union County in Monroe, NC.

Graveside Services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Lakeland Memorial Park, 1901 Lancaster  Avenue, Monroe, NC.

(Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic everyone attending the Service and Public Viewing are required to wear a mask or facial covering. Also please use the Hand Sanitizing Station when entering and exiting the Funeral Home.)

A public viewing will be held 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm  Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at  Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC is in charge of arrangements.

Walter Henry Gibson, Sr ., was born in Monroe, North Carolina to the late Center and Henrietta Hall Gibson on Thursday, April 30, 1936.  He departed this life on Saturday, August 14, 2021.

He married Ethel Lee Harris Gibson in January of 1956.

He was a kind and loving, as well as an amazing father to his children.  In his final days, he was surrounded by his children, who he adored more than anything else in the world..

Walter was preceded in death by is parents and a grandson, Michael Gibson, Jr.

Walter Henry Gibson Sr., is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ethel Lee Gibson; theiir six children, Barbara Gibson, Walter Henry Gibson, Jr., (Flo Gibson), GAry Gibson, Michell Witherspoon, Michael Gibson (Cindy Gibson), Lisa Shuler (Min. Keith Shuler); 13 grandchildren, Christopher McCullough, Katrina Alexander(Scottie Alexander), Chaz Smith, Adeina Smith, Patra Williams (Adrian Williams), Walter JP Gibson, Lee Gibson, Ryan Witherspoon (LeighAnn), Brandon Witherspoon, Bianca Gibson, Serena Williams, Justin Gibson and Toni Williams; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dora Rushing (June Rushing), Corrine Vincent (Terry Vincent) and Celia Morrow (Vernon Morrow).
