MR. WILLIAM EDWIN "Teddy Bear" CHAMBERS, 83 of MONROE, NC passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Atrium Health / Union in Monroe, NC.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at the Mount Calvary A.M.E. Zion Church, 800 LaSalle St., Monroe, NC. Mr. Chambers remains will lie in repose 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the church prior to the service. Entombment will follow in the Lakeland Memorial Park Mausoleum in Monroe, NC.
(Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic everyone attending the Service and the Public Viewing are required to wear a mask or facial covering. Also please use the Hand Sanitizing Station when entering and exiting the Funeral Home.)
A public viewing will be held 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Monday, December 13, 2021 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC which is serving the Chambers, Crowder and extended families.
Mr. William Edwin Chambers, also known as "Teddy and Bear ", a son of the late Walter Chambers and Daisy Crowder Chambers, was born on September 26, 1938 in Union County, NC.
William was a firm man and sometimes hard but he loved his family. In William's younger years, he grew up around the Anson and Union County areas where he went to elementary through high school graduating from East Union High School. William worked for over forty years at Johnston Mills in Mineral Springs and later worked another fifteen years at Bowie Ford later named Dale Jarret Ford. William was a hard worker and a task master. He kept a garden in which he made it a point for his children to know how to take care of something and work for what you want. Hard work was something he believed in.
William was preceded in death by many close relatives including his loving parents, Walter and Daisy Chambers and several brothers and sisters.
William leaves memories of his life to his children; Pamela Baker, Derrick Chambers(Kimberly), Tonya Chambers, Crystal Robinson(Reginald). April Chambers, Kimberly Ladson(Aliven) and Kenneth Chambers (Demetrick); 21 grandchildren, Antronius (Anquinette), Pier (Marquise), J'Leisa, Devin, Whitney, Quinndarius, Brandon, Tyler, Taylan, Chelsea, Kendrick, Malaysia, Jordan, Jaleah, Kineshia, Tenishia, Roderrick, Abria, Asia, Jaylen, Malik and 14 great-grandchildren; Ahnesti, Addisyn, Aiyah, Rayna, Khyan, Saryn, Caleb, Kari, Justin, Zavien, Jayden, Aiden, Cameron and Zion.
William also leaves to cherish memories to his sisters, Eunice Richardson and Daisy Chambers and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. William's long time best friend who was always a phone call away or a trip down the road, Curt Alexander, was an important part of his life and is greatly appreciated for his assistance and sacrifice for our father
