MR. WILLIAM KENT PEMBERTON, 57 of MT. GILEAD, NC (Wadeville Community) passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Atrium Health / Hospice of Union County in Monroe, NC.
Graveside Services will be held 11:00 am Sunday, June 13, 2021 at the Roper Grove AME Zion Church Cemetery, 196 Roper Grove Church Road, MT.Gilead, NC.

Mr. William Kent Pemberton , was born on Saturday, March 28, 1964 to Mrs. Mattie Bell Lilly Pemberton and the late John Robert Pemberton, Sr. On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, he was called to his eternal resting place while at Atrium Health Hospice-Union in Monroe, North Carolina.
"Kent" as he was fondly called by family and friends, received his education in the Montgomery County public school system. He was a great star basketball player his four years at West Montgomery High School. He played a great part in the 1983 championship game which West Montgomery won.. After high school, he spent sometime at Miami-Dade College in Miami, Florida and Rutledge College in Greensboro, NC. Then he returned home where he worked for many years at Jordan Lumber Company, Biscoe Foundry and McRae WoodTreating, but he is mostly known to be a great handy man.
Kent enjoyed spending time with family and friends cooking out and keeping everyone laughing.
In God's care, William has joined his father, John Robert Pemberton, Sr.; two nephews, Joshua Bowden and Brian Lee Stokes; one niece, Sabrina Lilly and sister-in-law,Gloria Lilly..
William leaves to cherish his loving memories, his loving mother, Mattie Bell Pemberton of the home; five sisters, Doris Bowden (Earl), Shelia Stokes (Carlie), Karene Chambers, Ernestine Medley and Jacqueline Watkins (Samuel), all of Mt. Gilead, NC; two brothers, Cecil Lilly of Wadesboro, NC and John Robert "JR" Pemberton, Jr.(Tymesia) of Mt. Gilead, NC; four aunts, Kizzie Johnson of Raleigh, NC, Mattie Mayhue (Leonard) of Jackson, Springs, NC, Clara Armstrong of Pinehurst, NC and Mozella Pemberton of Albemarle, NC; 8 nieces, 7 nephews, 14 great-nieces, 5 great-nephews, one good fishing buddy, Lewis Armstrong; 5 close friends, Burrell Christian, Titus Christian, Jerry and Reid Martin and Rickey Ingram; and a host of cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
