Willie Everett Hood

MR. WILLIE EVERETT HOOD, 90 of MONROE, NC passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 at Atrium Health / Hospice of Union County in Monroe, NC.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, November 4, 2021 at First United Presbyterian Church, 7700 Waxhaw Highway, Waxhaw, NC.  Mr. Hood remains will lie in repose 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at the church prior to the service.  Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe, NC.

(Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic everyone attending the Service and Public Viewing are required to wear a mask or facial covering.  Also please use the Hand Sanitizing Station when entering and exiting the Funeral Home.)

A public viewing will be held 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC.

Mr. Willie Everett Hood was born on Sunday, July 5, 1931, to the late David E. Hood and Maggie Bell Watts Hood of Lancaster, South Carolinas.  He entered eternal rest on the morning of Friday, October 29, 2021.

Willie completed educationn at Barr Street High School and Denmark Technical College.  He joined the United States Marines and was stationed at Parris Island.  He enjoyed using his love for technology in his career with the United States Postal Service.  He worked for the iPost Office maintaining the machinery used to sort and process mail until his retirement in the 1990's.

Willie was united in holy Matrimony to Margaret Ree Glenn, his beloved wife of nearly 62 years.  Their union was blessed with three children, Everett, Sabrina and Lizzie Hood.

Willie accepted Christ at an early age.  He and Margaret faithfully served at First Presbyterian Church in Waxhaw, NC, for as long as their health allowed. Willie was a dependable member, willing to do what was needed to serve the body of Christ.  He served as Deacon and Trustee and he especially enjoyed singing in the Chancel Choir.

Willie leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife, Margaret G. Hood of Monror, NC; one son, Everett Hood (Sandra) of Advance, NC; two daughters, Sabrina Myrick (Wilbur) of Gainesville, VA and Lizzie Hood of Durham, NC; one grandson, Jonathan Hood of Advance, NC; one brother, Leroy Hood and sister, Maggie Hood, both of Lancaster, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
