Willie Ree (Rushing) Simon

MRS. WILLIE REE RUSHING SIMON, 85 of MARSHVILLE, NC passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016,  at Autumn Care Nursing Home of Marshville, NC.  Funeral service will be 1p.m. Friday, April 22, 2016, at Harris Funeral Home Chapel, 601 Winchester Avenue, Monroe, NC.

Willie Ree was the oldest daughter of 10 children born to the late Henry S. Rushing, Sr., and Bessie Blakeney Rushing.   She was born on Wednesday, February 18, 1931, in Union County ,  NC.

She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of  First Church of God in Marshville, NC.  She attended the public schools of union county and graduated from East Union High School. Willie Ree was married to James Alton Simon and to this union five children were born, Vanessa, Vivian, Marion, Beverly and Robin.   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Lonnie Mae Rushing and Wanda R. Hatchell, and and a granddaughter, Yolanda Simon.

Willie Ree leaves to cherish loving memories to her children, Vanessa S. Wall of Winston-Salem, NC, Vivian S. Horne and Marion Simon, both of Marshville, NC, Beverly S. Hamilton of Wingate, NC and Robin Simon of Charlotte, NC; two adopted daughters,  Olivia Simon of Durham, NC and Molita Simon of Marshville, NC; five sisters, Henrietta Redfearn of Mint Hill, NC, Sophia R. Anthony of Charlotte, NC, Geraldine Barrino (Mark) of Marshville, NC,  Bonnie L. Rushing of Monroe, NC, Omega Autry (Loyc e), of Charlotte, NC;  two brothers, Henry S. Rushing, Jr.  of NY and Harold L. Rushing, Sr.,  of Atlanta, Ga., 3 brothers-law,  Loyce Autry of Charlotte, NC, Mark Barrino of Marshville, NC and James Hatchell of NJ; 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and one great-great 1 grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends .
