Willie Mae (Lively) Jennings

MRS. WILLIE MAE LIVELY JENNINGS, 93 of MONROE, NC passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Monday, October 12, 2020  at the Lee Park Baptist Church, 2505 Morgan Mill Rd., Monroe, NC, Interment will follow in the Suncrest Cemetery, 891 Bickett St., Monroe, NC.  A public viewing will be held 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm Sunday, October 11, 2020 at  Harris Funeral Home & Cremations of Monroe, NC.

(Due to the COVID 19 pandemic everyone attending the service must wear a face mask or facial covering and follow all Social Distancing requirements for the safety of the public).

Born Sunday, September 4, 1927 in Whitesboro, NJ to the late George and Hortense Kelly Lively.  She was also preceded in death by her husband Peter Jennings and a daughter Serena Lively.  Sister Jennings retired from Burdines in Miami, FL where she was an Auditor and in 2006 she relocated to Monroe, NC to reside with her daughter.

She  was known for her Sweet Potato Pies and enjoyed knitting Baby Hats and Blankets for Novant Health / Matthews Medical Center in Matthews, NC, and she loved making Ceramics at the Ellen Fitzgerald Senior Center. Willie believed in gathering her family together for all Birthdays and Holidays.

She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories to her children; Richard Layne of Atlantic City, NJ, Karen Lively Hart and Rosemary Layne Patton (Anthony), all of Monroe, NC and Jeffery Layne of Miami, FL,  5 grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
