MR. RICHARD DAWSON PRATT, SR., 69 OF NEW HAVEN CONNECTICUTT AND MT. GILEAD, NC, passed away March 1, 2022.
Funeral Services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2022 at the Leah Richter Levin Auditorium, 102 S. School Street, Mt. Gilead, NC. Interment to follow in the Stanly Gardens of Memory, 2001 E. Main St. Albemarle, NC. Public viewing will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Harris Funeral Home and Cremations, 2529 NC Hwy 109 S. Mt. Gilead, NC from 2p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, we ask that you wear a face mask or a facial covering when entering and exiting the Funeral Home. Please use the Hand Sanitizing Station also upon entering an exiting also. Your attention to these requests will be greatly appreciated.
Funeral arrangements are by Harris Funeral Home and Cremations of Mt. Gilead, NC, who is serving the Pratt, Miller and extended families.
Richard Dawson Pratt, Sr., was born on June 30, 1952, to the late Charles Henry and Josephine Roberta Finch-Pratt.
Richard or Rick , as he is sometimes called, loved God and music. Richard was married to his soulmate Marlene Miller Pratt for 38 years. They shared a special bond that could not be broken until now. God saw Richard to be worthy to come home. Richard was a musical talent, a vocalist with the 1970's R&B group Blue Magic and the local Gospel Quartet group the Gospel Gents.
Richard is survived by his wife, Marlene; his five children to cherish his memories of love; one son, Richard Dawson Pratt, Jr.,(Nicole) of New Haven, CT; four daughters; Royce Pratt of Philadelphia, PA, Keishma Pratt Fields (David) of Snellville, GA, Makeda Gordon (Dwight) of Florida and Ricquel Pratt of New Haven, CT; two brothers, Gregory Pratt of Annapolis, MD and Ralph Pratt (Rochelle) of Philadelphia. PA: one sister, Valerie Poitier (Tony) of Natick, Mass,, grandchildren, great-grandchildren.
