Hubert is the son of the late Blair and Leola Greene Harris of Candor, NC. He has been in the funeral business over 45 plus years, starting out with Pugh Funeral Home in Southern Pines, NC. He became a Licensed Funeral Director and co-worker of Pugh and Harris Funeral Home in Candor, NC in the 1970's. He is a Licensed Insurance Agent. He has been owner and operator of Harris Funeral Home and Cremations of Mt. Gilead and Monroe, NC since 1977 and 1986, respectively. He is married to the former Dora Lee Gaines and they are the proud parents of five children, Beverly, Maudestine, Hubert Leroy, John and Kimberly. They are the grandparents of three, Damarius, Ladarius and Kenisha and 2 great,-grands, Charleé and Cameron. He attends McAuley Memorial AME Zion Church in Mt. Gilead.
John is a graduate of West Montgomery High School and Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta GA. He is married to the former Linda Diggs. He is a CFSP, a Certified Funeral Service Provider, a Licensed Insurance Agent, manager of the Harris Funeral Home and Cremations, a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, He is on the Monroe City Planning Board and a member of the Pi Sigma Eta funeral service fraternity. John is also a United States Navy Veteran.
He presently is the president of the North Carolina Funeral Directors and Morticians Association. He is a member of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, Monroe, NC, where he is a Deacon and on the Men's Choir. Now he is presently the Chairman of the N.C. Funeral Directors and Morticians Association.
John wears many hats, and his true calling is serving the community. He is the son of Hubert Harris and the late Dora Gaines Harris. His sisters include, Beverly Harris, Maudestine Harris-Chambers (Lavern) and Kimberly Harris and a brother, Hubert Leroy Harris, Jr. (Lela).

Leroy is a graduate of West Montgomery High School and a 1980 graduate of Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service, Atlanta GA. He is a Licensed Embalmer and Funeral Director. He is the son of Hubert Harris Sr., and the late Dora Lee Gaines Harris. He is the oldest brother of Beverly Harris, Maudestine Harris-Chambers , Kimberly and John Harris.
He's married to the former Lela M. Hinson and the father of three children, Damarius Harris LaDarius Harris and Kenisha Hinson. He is the grandfather of two, Kameron Hinson Fee and Charleé Sarai Hinson -Fee.
He is an active member of McAuley Memorial AME Zion Church, where he is a member of the choir.
Beverly Antoinette Harris is the daughter of Hubert and Dora Gaines Harris and a 1977 graduate of East Montgomery High School, Biscoe, NC; 1979 graduate of Montgomery Technical Institute (now Montgomery Community College), Troy NC, Diploma in Practical Nurse Education (Licensed Practical Nurse); 1981 graduate of Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service, Atlanta, GA, Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer at Harris Funeral Home and Cremations of Mt. Gilead and Monroe, where she is assistant secretary in Mt. Gilead. A Notary Public. She is a very active member of McAuley Memorial AME Zion Church, Mt. Gilead, NC, where she sings in the choir, secretary of the finance committee, vice-president of pastors aid Committee and program director; Beverly's a 30 year retiree of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety where she was a LPN. She is a member of the Highland Community Center Board of Directors, Mt. Gilead, NC, and a volunteer at Mt. Gilead, Elementary School. Loves working in the community and helping those in need. Single, she has a chihuahua named Romo. In her spare time, she loves shopping, old TV shows, readings, working on her computer, listening to music, movies, making door badges, eating out and traveling. Beverly is the oldest of five brothers and sisters, Maudestine, Leroy, John and Kimberly. During the mayorial election on November 2, 2021, she was elected the first African American Female Mayor of Mt. Gilead, NC. She made history! To God Be The Glory!
Dora L. Gaines Harris, is a daughter of the late Elmer and Maggie Haywood Gaines of Anson County, Lilesville, NC and married to Hubert Harris and was a Licensed Insurance Agent and co-owner and secretary of Harris Funeral Home and Cremations of Mt. Gilead and Monroe, NC. She was the mother of 5, Beverly Harris, Maudestine Harris Chambers (Lavern), Hubert Leroy Harris ( Lela), John Harris (Linda) a Kimberly Harris; grandmother of three, Damarius, Ladarius and Kenisha. Two great -grands, Charleé and Kameron. She was an active member of McAuley Memorial AME Zion Church, where she sings in the choir. Dora has a sister, Clara Gaines Miller and a brother, Louis Gaines, both of Asheboro, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Odessa Gaines and a brother, Bishop Elsie Junior Gaines and sister Clara passed away recently on Aug 4, 2020. Dora passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018, after a sudden illness. She will be sorely missed.
